GRANVELO
CONTEMPORARY URBAN CREATION
‘Granvelo’ considers the city as a stage, proposing - through various possibilities of spatial configuration - new urban scenarios where to welcome activities and events, offer refreshment from the summer heat, but also host moments of collective sociality.
Commonly used in the theater, the granvelo is normally used as a gauze cloth that is stretched on stage as a curtain - it appears transparent if the scene behind it is strongly illuminated; if instead it is in the dark, and it is illuminated from the front, it looks like a compact wall on which any painted images or decorations can be read. ‘Granvelo’ takes up precisely this ability to reveal and conceal, using public space as the field of action in which this occurs.
The project is meant as a creation for the public space, conceived as a scenographic setting declinable in different ways, capable of hosting several heterogeneous activities.
Project developed together with Valentina Merz
